I sure as hell ain't a full time stoner anymore. I think that I am down to maybe 15-20 stoner days a year and the number is dropping. Now, don't even for a moment think that this lack is a function of my increasing virtue, it is instead a function of poor recovery processes.
Now, as stated in the above paragraph, this by no means is an attempt to become virtuous. I think that it is more a function of how to best moderate my moderation. In the good old days, I could run with the semi-pros. I am now 65, have a Social Security card, and more aches and pains than I care to enumerate. Now the goal is to use this in social occasions and try to do so with a minimum of one recovery day between the act and any need for competency.
I am wondering about the concept of legalization and the long term effects on society. Look, I drink and I smoke dope. I walked away from coke years ago and never have looked back. On an individual basis, I think that the decision to use a euphoriant in the current societal structure might not be a terrible idea. The current nature of the society itself, with its judgmental and hierarchical sorting of winners and losers gives weight to the need to remove oneself from the hurley-burley and just not think about the nature of the maze and the location of the cheese.
It would seem that the loss of competitiveness that usually accompanies the use of THC products might not be a terrible thing. Perhaps it would allow the populace a means of stepping off the "keeping up with the Jones'es" and the "progress forever" bandwagons. That would be a healthy thing, but if a sizable portion of the population decides that the treadmill going nowhere is not worth the bother, the ponzi economy will probably fall apart even faster than it is falling apart now.
So, I have to decide in my own little brain how to play this. If the economy falls apart (which I think it will, regardless of my complaints) I will need to work harder to find a place/time/living system that will allow a minimalist life of almost poverty and low impact.
