Diary: Really, You Didn't see This Coming?

Great Plant!

 

I've been doing more pondering that usual lately.  Dumb Donnie is up to more obvious shenanigans than I find comfortable for my dotage and sliding out of this mortal coil.  The problem is that the system over the past 250 years really had no other option than going this way.

 

Look, at the very beginning of the American Experiment, one of the more intelligent founders made a quip as he came out of independence hall;  

 

“In these sentiments, Sir, I agree to this Constitution, with all its faults, if they are such; because I think a General Government necessary for us, and there is no form of government, but what may be a blessing to the people if well administered; and believe further, that this is likely to be well administered for a course of years, and can only end in despotism, as other forms have done before it, when the people shall become so corrupted as to need despotic government.” 

 

Look, nothing lasts forever, we aren't that bad off and the chances are things will continue on their inevitable reversion to mean.  Don't take it personally.  We aren't any more noble or good than any other people.  Our government has hung together for 250 years and the wear and tear is starting to show.  

 

Life is going to be different.  Deal with it.
