One of my favorite things to do is to use Michael's insights as feedstock for a new post. I relieves me of the burden of coming up with a quasi-coherent theme and allows me to. As always, I will strive to ensure that his thoughts are duly attributed. I will be in Red, Mike will be in Blue. This will allow everyone who has the poor time-management skills required to come by here to peek to have an insight into the views of the interlocutors.
I responded to his e-mail as such:
I received your e-mail over on my gmail account and I am getting ready to turn it into tomorrow's post. I am doing this because today I am sitting at home and doing a bowel prep prior to a colonoscopy. I cannot imagine a more fitting time and place to discuss the Trumpmeister.
Perhaps the falsest of all the accusations directed at Donald Trump is the charge that he behaves like a mob boss. Any fact checks done on this offensive and unfair charge should refer to these three well-known quotes from the most famous mob boss of all, John Gotti:
1.“I would be a billionaire if I was looking to be a selfish boss, that’s not me.”
2. “Don’t ever say anything that you don’t want played back to you someday.”
3. “I never lie because I don’t fear anyone. You only lie when you are afraid.”
Let’s be honest; the level of selflessness, self-control and courage one needs to become a mob boss, are not within the reach of the president of the United States. Not even close - maximum Pinocchio's for this hurtful accusation.
John:
Gotti was a man who wielded power. Trump at the same time is not a man who is at all accustomed to dealing with power, he dealt with money. Unfortunately, no one ever bothered to school Donnikins on the simple fact that the two concepts (power/money) are not the same thing.
Donnie is now, will be in the future, and was in the past a saleman, a huckster. In this world of sorrows, those kind of people have the money. His skills are in image and personality. His skills require a great deal of lability in the arena of morality.
But, the skills of an elected politician here in America require a much greater huckster component than does the purveyer of power. Once they get there, we insist, against all evidence, that they drop the huckster as soon as they get into office and become solely a creature of power.
I can't say for a moment that I expected Donnie to change such a thing. The only reason that I ever voted for him that that, while he is a huckster, his opponent was never, ever anything but a creature of power, I I most certainly didn't like that idea one little fucking bit.
A message (plea) to the youth of America, including your kids:

Please do not listen to or act like the president of the United States; instead, for the love of god and the good of us all, listen to John Gotti instead.
Absolutely: Even if you don't have power, the rules of a person who does have power are morally superior to those of the who only wield money and image.

In the 60's, the relevant/valuable advice given to the youth of America might have been only one word , i.e., "plastics"; but today probably the best advice of all is #2 above (and add the words "or keystroke" after the word "say"), No?

Number 3 is not advice, but it is interesting. Maybe it is a good thought to turn into advice. Whenever one prepares to tell someone a lie, one should stop and ask themselves: why am I afraid of who I am talking to?
This will require thought. A lot of it. Coming up with on advice on lying is super hard to do. A lot of the time, you are lying to yourself as well as to others. So the process itself is scary. Telling oneself lies is about as common as people.
