Obsolete Equipment
Nov. 28th, 2023 08:56 amSpending a day at the hospital getting tests done is one boring way to spend the day. Luckily, this is an infrequent occurrence.
Other than that it was a bloody gorgeous day here in riot-town, only hit 50° F. but the sky was as blue as it ever gets and it was almost as bright and shiny out as a summer day. Sadly, this is also an infrequent occurrence.
But it went well yesterday, looks like my veins are nice and smooth inside and there isn’t a bunch of gunk clogging them up. Always a good thing. I think that this will disappoint my doctor (A very nice resident) who is always looking for a reason to prescribe me drugs since it is a well known fact that fat people cannot be healthy. He keeps sending me in for tests and trying to prescribe things because that is the way that old people are treated in his personal algorithm.
I am thinking that treating the average patient is overall a good idea for doctors and patients alike. I think that if you are a patient who is average it works quite well. The trouble is that, in this country and under this medical regime, everyone and his brother seems to have the idea that their little issues and imagined crises puts them into the the non-average category.
I tend to look at medical treatment and the medical profession as a necessary evil. I think that most folks look at their imagined suite of maladies as a means of establishing their uniqueness and the validity of their existence. Why people have gone the way of being ashamed of being average is beyond me. I personally would love to be “average” with a well-established set proven treatment modalities available. But, being a giant breed with stats on nearly all levels being well outside of 2 S.D. (way too many approaching 3 S.D.) I have to pay closer attention to details than what I prefer.
I guess the best analogy is that most folks are running Toyota Camry’s and I am running a 1967 International Harvester Travelall.
At least they let you out
