I have decided to stop reading my weekly/monthly magazines (Economist,The Nation, The National Review).

I kept them for years to keep me posted on the state of mind of the varying factions that serve as the erstwhile voice of the respective factions. I have just came to the completely unwelcome conclusion that all of the factions are insane.

So, while throwing them away unread does constitute a waste of money, the decrease in confusion in my psyche from banning the reading of detailed descriptions (usually incomplete of just plain false) of the virtue of the writer's point of view and/or the pure double-dip evil of their erstwhile opposition is a waste of time and the major contributor to my current malaise.

Fuck these people

For what it's worth

I quit reading "the nation" several years ago, much better for my mental health, getting rid of cable so only watching local newscasts helped as well. You are correct, your mental health is most important, which is why I quit reading Jmg's covid forum, and seriously curtailed reading the comments on his essays, which were giving me heartburn, how he retains any feelings except despair over his readers is beyond me.
