Ploughing by Stefan Dimitrescu

I am coming to the conclusion that by making an attempt to understand the systems of Qabala and Tarot is going to be a bigger project than I initially anticipated.  A lot bigger.

Doesn’t mean that I am bagging out, but I think that my half baked plans need to be calibrated to reality now that I have begun the process.

One of the nice things about being retired is the control that one has of one’s time.  I retired a year ago and have just been luxuriating in the self-indulgence allowed by not having nine to ten hours of my actions during weekdays prescribed by others.  Luxuriating in fifty or sixty hours added to the time allowed for my wishes is a good thing.

But I am thinking that it is time to buckle down a little bit and start carving up my hours in a manner that will allow me to start actually accomplishing something.

I think that I will have to set up a schedule for myself.  Now, before I get too far ahead of myself, I want to inform my gentle readers that this isn’t going to be a complete turnaround.  I fully intend to continue a big part of my sloth and lack of self-direction.  I am just trying to figure out how best to integrate a wee bit of discipline back into my life.

My glib goal of trying to understand just what the fuck the Tarot and the Qabala are all about is metastasizing in unexpected ways.  I think that I need to learn some Hebrew and probably figure out a smattering of astrology.

So I am going to potter around with this for a couple of weeks, until the end of the month or Super bowl Sunday (my current religious high holiday) and come up with a plan.

...and (very probably from my own preferences, so sorry already) I wonder if it also would benefit your quest if you'd brush up your connection towards the divine to not go Tamra's way in search for answers... - just a passing thought.

And if I'm already spouting embarrassing things: I'm sort part of the "legalize it"-generation whose political inclined part now has gone and at least legalized it medically here so I'm not part of the " all drugs are always evil" mindset. That said, Temperance could maybe also be read as Paracelsus may have stated it: with the right measure.
Have a nice week!

A good place to start with the tarot is Robert Place's The Tarot: History, Symbolism, and Divination. Knowing why the cards are there, and what their original intent was helps a lot. To my mind, it also gets rid of all the need for "reversals" as they don't really work well within the original structure.
