A Foolish Attempt

In a sense, I blame JMG for this post.  It isn’t so much that I agree with him all the time, I just like the template that he uses for his writing and I think that I will borrow (steal) the template for my own writing.

He has two blogs, which I see as two different kinds of writing.  The first is the biggie over at Ecosophia.net which is where he unlimbers his big guns.  He seems to take more time with these writings and the writings themselves seem more formal, I suppose that he has completed a particular way of thinking and is laying the “word” down.

His second blog, which I kinda prefer is over at ecosophia.dreamwidth.org.  I see this one is where he puts out things for people to check out and see if they are interested in the stuff that he has on his bookshelf.  He also put out his version of fishing expeditions and taking the pulse of his readers.  I wonder just how many of his ideas come from the offhand comments buried in these things.

His Magic Monday question and answer period on dreamwidth is pretty interesting.  Not being of a particularly “occult” bent by nature and education, I find the questions here probably more informative about the differing flavors of discipline in the field than the knowledgeable answers that he responds with.  It is too late in the game for me to do all the research he has devoted his life to.  I appreciate the one-stop shopping that he offers here.  I am pretty certain that he isn’t the supreme authority on any particular flavor (except for perhaps his particular flavor of modern Druidry) but he has a sufficiently impressive knowledge of a majority that he is more than useful to a searcher.

So….now that I have plugged his storefront, I want to take a moment to talk about mine.

I have two accounts here at Dreamwidth.  The first is Degringolade (Which you are reading) and the second is Lloigor, which I am using as the vehicle for an old-fashioned serial novel (which, by the way, is currently a case study describing writer’s block).

Now, I have been blogging for years now.  You can go back to my old stuff on blogger. I still can’t quite wrap my head around the fact that I have been pecking away at a keyboard for going onto seventeen years now.  I quit blogger because the trolls were starting to annoy me.  For a while I was up there in the stats, I suppose that I was “lower-middle class" in the field and was on a couple of the bigger time blogs “reading lists” (thanks Matt Savinar).  But with that modest (very modest) bit of popularity came the exposure to the 50% of the populace who can be best described at nasty shits.  Nope, wanted none of that thank you.

Right now I need to sort out what I want to write about, what format I want the writing published in, and how I want to structure my time and efforts that will go into the writing.

Wish me luck.

Good luck...
