Metaphysical art / Felice Casorati/ Dreaming of Pomegranates
Sunday.
OK: Just setting this up on the “big” laptop so that when I am on the road, I can use the little laptop easily.
Overall, little trips like this serve multiple purposes. First and foremost is getting me away from the hurly-burly so that I can relax, second is testing the waters for further stripping away of the accoutrements of my over-complicated life. As I have stated here ad nauseum, I need to figure out just what it is I need and what it is I can do without. Overall, and in relation to the rest of the society where I am exiled, I keep a pretty low “stuff” footprint. Even with that, I still find the amount of stuff that I have to be limiting.
Right now the back of Bessie looks a little bit like a homeless camp. I think that I am subconsciously creating a “bug out kit” that rolls. I am thinking that it might be time to formalize the process and make something that is a bit more logical and useful. Gonna take some time with this and ponder it on the drive today.
Monday.
OK...Change in plans enroute. Decided not to head to Walla Walla anyway. Went Sunday driving and ended up in Fossil, Oregon. Hanging out as we speak at a nice little bed and breakfast ($80.00 a night). Will head up to the fossil beds later on and see what we can see. Maybe snag some fossils for trophies.
Can’t say why plans were changed. Actually, just felt like I was getting out of my comfort zone. Gabe got to do quite a bit of driving and his confidence seems to be improved by long drives on back roads. More of the same today.
Fossil is kinda funny. Sorta like a mini Republic (including the fossil beds). Just shy of 500 folk, County seat of Wheeler County Just shy of 1,500 people. No appreciable industry...looks to be a cattle town. City water and sewer available.
