Feeling a bit better today.  Been lumpy all week.  This time of the year kinda gets on my nerves a bit with the weather shifting back and forth between blue skies and grey overcast.  But we are coming out of the winter tunnel and I will soon be reminded why, at least weather-wise, I like this place for a good seven months out of the year.  

Still thinking about leaving though.  I am getting more nervous about the year coming up and what it will bring.  I am tending toward thinking it isn’t going to be roses and rays of sunshine.  I am hoping for good things, I am not betting on it though.

I have always laughed at folks when they claim “age discrimination”.  Well of course it happens.  That is that.  Old geezers like me, despite all our protestations to the contrary really aren’t the fabulous workers that we try to advertise ourselves as.  As a group we are experienced enough to just put in exactly the amount of work required and not one iota more.  This screws up the plans of the middle management vermin who intend to “motivate” workers to greater efforts so that they can ensure their bonuses.  Trying to get an older worker “motivated” is a lot harder task than dangling a carrot in front of a youngster.  

So I will continue to cast about for a new place to work.  But plan on staying in Portland and wearing out my welcome here.  18 months to go.
