Pottering About

A good deal in life must be spent in "Pottering About".
Old term, used in white trash families like mine. Simply means that you are doing all the little fill-work projects that need to get done. None of the individual tasks are difficult, none of them take any appreciable amount of time, but all need to be done for things to be maintained and for projects to keep advancing.
Now, what is amazing is that some folks find this kind of work to be beneath them or not of any particular use. Nothing could be further from the truth. This kind of low-key, attention to detail types of task-oriented projects that makes the big projects work out.
Life is mostly a series of interconnected tasks. It seems to me that the key is to reduce the overall number of big tasks that you have the need to take on, then just keep plowing away at all of the little tasks that make them happen.
