Thursdays are fast days

Look, I fast once a week to help in losing weight and to kinda clear out my system. I eat fewer calories during the week and the fasting one day a week helps in this. Folks keep trying to assign some religious significance to a pretty mundane accomplishment. It doesn't help you become a better person, it doesn't assign you a direct relationship with whichever dancing monkey god that you have chosen to worship that particular week.
Look, being fat doesn't make you a bad person, being skinny doesn't make you a good person. There are health consequences to both of those conditions. You just make a choice about what health consequences you wish to face.
When I sit down and ponder the consequences and benefits of any action, I tend be be more prosaic than most. I fast because I want to drop some more weight, I want to clear up my system on a routine basis, and I don't think that it is a bad idea to remind oneself that being hungry isn't that big of a deal.
