Whenever I read the folks who are the most impassioned about trying to stop climate change, they really don't seem to be as concerned about the climate and such as they are about the "despair" that it will cause the world.
But then I start thinking about the whole process, and I realized too late that all of this little passion play is being acted out on the internet, which is most certainly the oddest idea that the world has ever come up with.
Look, this little affectation is just a place to put down my thoughts, I should probably do it in a paper journal, but over the years I have stopped writing with pen and ink and transitioned over to keyboard. Just a sign of the times.
But my use of the keyboard is just to let myself think out loud. It appears to me that a lot of folks appear to believe that their comments mean something, that an individual's words can mean something more than their actions. They certainly don't realize that their "thoughts" and prejudices are held in one of the most wasteful and useless arenas in the history of the world.
Look, the world is going to get a lot smaller and a lot more local. All the stuff that folks take for granted will be vanishing. But the truth of the matter is, none of the stuff is all that necessary. Folks are going to have to do with a lot less in the none-too-distant future. I figure we will revert at about 150% of the rate of growth and expansion that got us here. The internet whiz-bang will go away, I think that something akin to FidoNet may survive long term.
Sorry, bit of a ramble
