I was really happy today to see that Brilliant at Breakfast is back at it.  I always loved the writing and the thought that went into it, especially when I didn't agree with the conclusions.  I actually put them into the same class as Jim Fitch before he went and had a monumental hissy fit over fuckwad being elected

Baked Beans

2-1/2 cups dried beans (soak them)

Enough Bacon:  Personal Choice here Backaroos lots or little or none

1 bell pepper, diced

1 small yellow onion, diced

4 garlic cloves, minced

2 teaspoon kosher salt

3 tablespoons sugar

1 teaspoon white pepper

1/4 cup apple cider vinegar

1/2 cup molasses

One can of El Pato tomato sauce
1/4 cup nasty yellow mustard
1 teaspoon dried oregano

2 teaspoon hickory smoke flavor
1/2 teaspoon mustard seed
1/2 teaspoon coriander seed
 

About 60 hours in a 225 F oven in a dutch oven.

I guess that I am not of the peculiar faith that seems to be reigning here in the land o' the free.  It is a peculiar faith.  The idea that everything can solve any problem and that we are masters of the world.  It is an old faith, come to us via the sin of the monotheists, who slipped in a little codicil a long time ago that everything has a human solution and that given money and a brilliant person that we can follow, we can overcome any problem and go back to out lotus eating.  

But I am thinking that the Rona is the first of many issues that are bearing down on us to point out stewardship of any type takes responsibility and sacrifice.  It is also time for the rest of the planet (non-human) is going to be putting in it's two cents worth in the none-too-distant future 

I tire of the nattering that Fuckwad hasn't saved us so he is a bad person.  No, not the problem.  Fuckwad never had a chance, I think that even Fuckwad knew it.  But the truth of the matter is that no one did.  Banquets of consequences are the only thing currently on the menu.  The only thing that Fuckwad did was to make certain that his peeps had enough lube, because they are going to get it too.

Nope, I think that we ought to draft the annoying little Swedish Princess for the Presidency here in the land o' the free.  She really does have a clear and persistent vision of what is going wrong.  I think that it would be interesting to watch this pubescent Cassandra go through the process of learning that the world that she lives in and the human ecology that provides her her comfort and her podium are at odds.  

Nope, No one is going to get us out of the storm times a comin'.  The white-coated welfare queens of the science community won't.  The hard-working American middle class wont, the gilded-age plutocrats won't.    Girolamo Savonarola will be attending the next twenty years in spirit.  

Gonna be a helluva show.  I need to work out how to watch from a distance.
