Impressionism / Claude Monet/ Water Lily Pond

Impressionism / Claude Monet/ Water Lily Pond

Well, I did it, the first chapter is up over at

https://lloigor.dreamwidth.org/

I am posting over there whenever I get ten chapters ahead.  So that means last night I finished chapter eleven.  13,131 words in.  I figure about 10%-20% done.

Actually it is kinda nice working on something that isn't trying to make sense of the world.  I spent the couple of months trying to make sense of something that smarter people that me have been fumbling the ball on for a while now.  All the thinking accomplished was the firm conviction that science was an incomplete worldview, as it were, a god that limps.

In the process of setting up to write something completely non-scientific and sorta-Lovecrafty, I am hijacking JMG's Haliverse and taking it for a spin.  I am trying to mostly create new characters, but I am using a sprinkling of JMG's characters to sand the edges off my plotline and make it fit.  I am trying not to actually have them be central in any way, though I am hoping that JMG won't be offended by my adopting Walt Moore a little more than others (This is due to identity, as a 70's era SF weapons/medic who spent 18 months in Southern Laos and Northern Cambodia), I kinda think I know him.

My writing style will be different than the original creator's style.  I tend to write lots of short chapters, I am impressed by JMG's long chapters, but can't quite do that myself.  So I am hoping for two posts a week for a while.

I am also trying to use this fiction to figure out some things that I should have figured out a long time ago.  So I am also trying to weave in a outline of how philosophy effects writing and creativity.  The sterility of the scientific worldview has been an ongoing issue with me for decades, coming to the point where I threw away decades of work and experience as a scientist to become a petty bureaucrat until I retired and can now do what I want.

So, please feel free to wander over to the book.  Any suggestions, edits, offensive comments will be gratefully accepted.
