Got the second load in the washer.  First load is in the dryer, the drip, drip, drip of the still is in the background.  Life is pretty chill.  Gray skies today, but no rain.  Breakfast was leftover pizza and I am trying to skip lunch every day.

I am getting a little nervous about the dumbfuckery going on in the world.  Look, I really can’t see a fight we are spoiling for that wasn’t mostly our fault (there is plenty of blame to go around, but the way that I see it, our actions constitute about 60% of the root causes for all the crap).

For some reason I see the chance of a big war as not all that bad.  Probably less than 10%, which isn’t bad in the grand scheme of things.  

I think that the folks in the Pentagon have figures out that they have a force structure and training doctrine more appropriate to beating up on third world despots than going toe-to-toe with a peer military (Don’t believe for a moment that we wouldn’t stand a better than 50/50 chance of losing to either China or Russia).  We might win, but I sure as fuck would bet on it.

Not super worried about the war going nuclear either.  This one is down in the 2% range.  Our corporate masters don’t want anything like a nuclear war, bad for profits that is.  Now, a reasonably contained local war is the cat's meow for profits, especially if the chump that we are shaking down doesn’t have an air force or air defense.  Talkin’ some gravy there, especially if they are sitting on some resource that we want.

Look folks, I am proud of my service and what I accomplished on an individual level.  But times have changed and we aren’t the same people that we were 50 years ago.  We are biting off more than we can chew.  We tend to go to war after the other combatants have beat on each other for a while and then skim the cream with the “victors”.  We are poking our nose in the same hornets nest that took down both Napoleon and Guderian.  I don’t think that we have folks of that caliber  running the show .
