OK: I was originally thinking about not taking annual leave for the last year or so to build up the retirement pot. Realized this week just what a bad idea that is. So a little more $$ will go into savings, a little more large will be lived, and more time will be taken away from the brain rot that is today's workplace environment.
So today is wandering over and reacquainting myself with old friends in the ‘Couv. Maybe go a searching for apartments and having a beer with the fam.
Screed
Lots of inconvenienced electrons flashing back and forth between the little round robin of ideas/argumentation email string. Looks like currently we are trying to get our hands around inequality and society.
This is a hard one and in truth I think that it is one that never can be solved.
Now, I am not a christian, but being born in the USA you are most certainly going to be well-schooled in the vagaries of that particular sect. In my case, Sister Anna Rita and the three gay priests made certain that I could recite chapter and verse. I don’t begrudge any of the lessons whatsoever, they also gave me a damn fine grounding in how to think clearly. Say what you want about the Jesuits, they know how to educate and they stand by their ideal of teaching you to think, even though it stands a decent chance of leading you away from the church.
The bible is an extended metaphor. The metaphors that I find most intriguing are the fall and the little tiff between Cain and Abel. I am thinking that spending a little time with these myths and looking into the truth that the myths conceal/reveal might prove enlightening.
I think that humans are descended from killer apes. We aren’t a gentle species, before we ever picked up a tool, we picked up a weapon. The transition periods from hunter-gatherer to pastoralist to agriculturalist to industrialist to wherever the fuck we are now were/are fraught with injustice and scrambling for position. From what I can see, it builds in intensity and pressure until it finally just blows up.
I am hoping that the whole thing holds together long enough for me and mine to slip out unnoticed.
the path not taken (wish I could have met Callahan)
