Been thinking and reading a lot about the Ukraine nonsense lately. Man, I can't really say I give a shit who wins or loses. That's it. I cannot imagine two less likeable entities in a bar fight, I kinda hope they both lose.
But folks out there in my daily reads really have their tits in a wringer about this. I have a new theory about why this is. To work my way to the goal, I will have to lead you around a little bit. So lets talk civil war. Specifically, lets talk about the Battle of the Wilderness.
The first couple of Union Generals in the Civil war were, to put it in the vernacular, a bunch of pussies. They were dinking around with making sure everything was perfect and that there was no way that they could lose. The only way that they could manage such a thing was not to bother fighting and wait.
Needless to say, this wasn't very effective. Then came Grant. You really can't beat a drunk who likes to fight as a General. He took off on a campaign that was all about engaging the enemy and making him fight so the enemy couldn't go elsewhere. Grant sent his troops in and kept them pushing. While he was doing this, Sherman went in and fucked up the Confederacy.
Take off your ideological blinkers. Take off your
dance around and rope-a-dope tactics. Remember, Russia isn't
Mohammad Ali. Russia is Mike Tyson.
