Couches

Well, made the decision to leave the current slot and go find a place to bide my time while provisions are made.  Interview yesterday seemed to go well, maybe time to move back to the ‘Couv.

I have to put in leave today for the annual debauchery at Sisters.  Over the years this little ritual has become progressively more tame, a trend that I approve of mightily.  I will prepare some gummi bears (red and blue) and a small bottle of whiskey for the trip.  My beer is already made.

I have to spend quite a bit of time during the next month doing the simple task of shutting this place down and getting ready to move my meager “stuff” into another place a half hour drive from here.  Luckily I have spent the last five years getting a serious head start on this kind of thing.  I think that the next little while will be a pretty serious once-over to see what else needs to be purged.  If plans go as planned (an astonishingly rare occurrence), I will be footloose and fancy free in right around 600 days.  Big project is figuring out the minimum needed for the planned senescence.

Oddly enough, the one thing that I am having the most trouble deciding about is the stupid couch that is over on my left.  Big old clunky thing, brown leather, and getting progressively closer to the ground and harder to get up out of as the years go by.  I am certain that it has worn out its welcome but I am having lots of trouble bringing myself to getting rid of it.

I am thinking seriously about replacing it with some high-quality big boy camping chairs.  I am quite fond of my camping directors chair and find it more comfortable and easier to ingress/egress than prying my big ass from a height of around six inches like I have to with the current couch.  Flopping down and sagging in front of the TV is really not what I do any more.

I am thinking that the ability to make changes quickly and be able to move to a better setting may be critical in the none-too-distant future.  Couches are semi-permanent affectations for the well-appointed permanent homestead.  I think I can ignore that.
