Amenity of a Forest

One of the things that needs to be done by an unwilling society is to go back and reassess all kinds of decisions. Truth be told, that is what adults do when they finally admit to themselves that what they are doing doesn’t work.
But I can’t really see this happening at a national level. Regardless of who is comfortably ensconced in DC to “represent” their constituents.
Now, you may think that I am just being cynical (an accusation that is probably quite true) but the folks in DC of all flavors and subtypes and job descriptions are doing a marvellous job defending their constituents.
The fact of the matter is that their constituents just are not you and I.
So what do we do now?
At my age, most of my decisions are behind me. I am on the backside of the peak and I am just riding out the course. So all of the basic decisions concerning politics and the day-to-day structure of life are well beyond my means and truthfully, I am not that interested anymore.
So, I am thinking about going back among the discarded and purportedly discredited theories dropped by the wayside of science in it’s march to where we are now. I am blaming JMG for this thought. He came up with the damndest little post here in dreamwidth (The ecosophia.net is his mainstream stuff, the ecosphia over here at Dreamwidth is much more of the “what makes us want to burn the witch” flavor which is greatly appreciated your humble correspondent).
All that being said, I think that I am going to do some research (reading?) into good old Wilhelm Reich and “Orgone”. Now, having been a card carrying member of the scientific establishment for >20 years, I have always been fascinated by just how aggressively this idea was hounded down and expunged. Even now, if you want to bathe yourself in pure bile for a little bit, go out and read some of the folks “debunking” the idea.
I am coming to the conclusion that the as we get farther into the consequences of the decisions we have made over the past 100 years, the more we will need to go back and look at paths we chose not to take. I really have no idea if the technology mentioned by the Archdruid Emeritus is anything worth pursuing, but hell, what we are doing now sure as hell ain’t working for me.
