Head Drop

 Hoca Ali Riza: Manzara

So, the youngest may be getting a newerish vehicle, so the Caravan may be coming home to roost.  No problem there, but now I thinking about doing a conversion on it to make it a camping vehicle.  Lots of things to consider, but as it my be what I live in, down by the river, the idea bears some looking at.

AA is doing something on a bigger scale, and JC talked endlessly about converting her caravan until she went sideways and purchased a Hyundai.  Go figure.  So today is a thinking day about it.  Maybe I can have the plans fleshed out and executed before the September trip to the Hoh.  Problems may arise when I drill down on the redhead about the maintenance he was supposed to follow up with.  I at least hope that he changed the oil.

Life seems to be in a lull.  feels like the world is waiting for something to happen.  I hope that it waits.

Like the world, I appear to be in the dog days of August.  Nothing is settling down in my brain as worthy of discussion, so I will take this opportunity to present another of Michael's excellent pieces (How is that deck coming along Mike?).

Michaels Declamation

How many times has this happened to you?

A smart individual communicates: “I came across this old article/video/etc. - which really brightened my day because it reminded me of the power of the internet to transmit positive ideas”. This is certainly a dumb view of the situation; the day is not brightened by disregarding what is, and has been, darkening it. It never seems to occur to this smart person, that if brightness can grow, surely darkness can and will too; otherwise, we would not be having the initial discussion.

A theoretical condition where nobody attempts to transmit joy might be called survival mode, because the world would be reduced to facts and possibly honest mistakes.  The question is whether humans can be satisfied with pursuing success if the process must be carried out without the existence of joy derived from hatred. If someone doubts that there is such a thing, they should look closely at films or videos showing the faces of people in mobs or at political rallies. Today’s Trump rally is a group hate; listen to the words and look at the faces.

Imagine yet a different world - an alternative offered to the joyous attendees of the rally.  Skip immediately to the desired condition where all immigration goals have been met - zero illegals in the US and none coming in. The effects on the economy and other elements of life in the US are whatever they would be - maybe higher food prices, possibly slightly lower taxes due to lower expenses (or possibly higher taxes due to the cost of achieving the total success) - and jobs previously done by migrants, available to the rally attendees. Also, four congresswomen have been exiled, but this is an aside.

Put the people with joyous faces into this world where there they have exactly what they were seeking and see what happens. Very few, if any, will want the labor intensive or disgusting jobs done by the migrants, there will be no change in the rate of jobs lost due to globalization and new technology, no change to global warming, no change in greediness, and on down the line.

So those who are joyfully angry about losing their job will still not have a job and they will have come up with a new explanation for their inability to find a job. They will pay more for food and labor and not less in taxes because they don’t make enough to make it an issue, even if the rates were to decrease. In this world they will have what they wanted, and, most significantly, they will have nothing to be joyful about.

History includes instance after instance of joyous hatred leading to the desired change; but see if you can find such a case where the change brought more joy than it cost. Were the French ever more joyous than when they were watching heads drop into a basket? Were the Nazis ever more joyous than when attending rallies?

In France, families watched the heads drop; in Germany, families never looked into the concentration camps, and modernly, Americans watch shock and awe on television for entertainment. In the old days people slaughtered a chicken from their back yard, and now we buy one in a cleanly wrapped Styrofoam package - and we use migrants to slaughter thousands a day; at least in the real world. I do not believe the people with the joyous faces today want to slaughter chickens for a living, I think they want to hate someone. It is not important that I think this; it is important that the president does.
