New Realism (American Realism) / Edward Hopper/ Hotel Lobby
I am amused by folks thinking that they can “save” the world.
I am fairly certain that the world is entirely indifferent to our hopes, aspirations, opinions, and judgements. Simply put, your opinions about how the world should be simply don’t matter.
Now, before you get all hot and bothered, I want you to spend a little time pondering the little chart on the miocene. Really, spend some time with it. The timeframe is between five million and twenty three million years ago.
Then I want to have you wander over to the quaternary period and check things out there. Check out lots of things. Animals, weather, seas, check out what the folks who try to do science without being whores to someone think about the earth and its past.
We are in a weird place, our whole world rotates around the idea that things should remain constant. But all of the information tells us that the world is fire and change.
Our lifetimes are miniscule and our effects minor.
Earth abides.
