Pavel Filonov: Heads

No real reports about personal issues.  yesterday was a busy Monday, replete with whiny nurses and slightly too much work and an insufficient supply of efficiency.   Today I have to restart my diet.  October first was the day that I promised myself.  So food gets logged and weight gets taken on Fridays.  I will even try for the Thursday fasts.

Managed some communication with the younger.  I am hoping for more, but not holding my breath.

Screed:

But it really doesn't mean that Garrett was wrong about things.

Over the years, I have always found it comical that Environmentalism has become a leftist kinda thing here in the US.  It started out as a hard right thing.  If I am remembering right, it grew out of the John Birch Society and it's associated whackadoodles along with the early start of the Christian Dominionists.  Man, it has come a long way.

So, when I ran across an article for the Baffler about good of Garret Hardin, I got a good giggle.  Reading the article, I felt truly moved.  My intellectual forebears are Garrett and Jørgen and Donella and Dennis and Rachel.  But just because you agree with something as a specific issue that needs to be addressed, doesn't mean that you necessarily agree with the methods they espouse to address the problem.  The example I use here is Marx.  Look, Karl Marx had one of the best descriptions of the problems that we face today that anyone could hope for.  On the other side of the issue is the completely stupid set of solutions that he dreams up on how to address the problem

I think that John Michael Greer described the current situation well and even presaged this article a couple of month's ago.

Yep, I think that I agree with John Michael.  what we are seeing with articles like Mr. Amend's is yet another nail in the coffin of environmentalism being placed by the elites that so profit from their hand in hand with the corporatocracy.  Their power and their privilege is solely vested in the maintenance of the illusion that there will always be enough.

You see, I have written extensively about immigration.  It is all self-centered.  It is all about the realization that there just isn't enough to support my meager lifestyle.  Now, most folks will see the cornucopia of goods as proof that they have won and that they will always have it.  I see it differently, the container is on the low side of half empty.  The resources and the energy that gave us the excess we now revel in are limited and there is not even going to be enough to maintain our already decreasing lifestyle.  So when I say that we have to limit the number of people in the body politic, it is to maintain my meager lifestyle.

But the elite have pulled off a neat trick.  Somehow, my self-interest and my realization that there isn't enough to go around has now labelled me as a racist (which is odd in light of my oh-so-mixed heritage).   So the original article makes perfect sense to me.  The elites are going after a twofer.  They will denigrate Hardin for being a racist (likely true) and with that little bit of hand-waving, will cast doubt on the truth of the Commons.  Because everyone in America seems to think that if you hold one thing true that is false, then everything else that everything else that you hold true is equally false.

So, inconvenient bastards such as Garrett and your humble correspondent will be successfully marginalized by moral purity and the shibboleths of the woke and the unthinking.
