Like everyone else the past couple of days, I have been checking out the “news” concerning the clusterfuck surrounding Ukraine.  There are a whole bunch of folks out there who aren’t shy about making categorical statements about a situation half a world away where the “fog of war” has descended.  

What is worrying me more than anything is that the two-minute hate is shifting into high gear.  This seems to me to be a sign that we are going back to the same old bag of tricks that brought us Afghanistan, Iraq, Iran, Libya, and Syria.  Despite the crowing, those didn’t end well.  

But it seems that it is the only trick that they know.

I truly wonder if this way of approaching any military/diplomatic problem that faces us is anything but a self-licking ice cream cone.
