Edo period (1603–1867) / Shibata Zeshin/ Still Life
I am considering moving away from a daily to a more limited output here in blogoland. I think that for years a daily format suited my needs. When you are heading inevery workday to whore for the man, you need something to center your thoughts around who you are in order not to become a drone for lifeless and bloodsucking professional world.
I am working on a longer piece now. I am polishing up rough edges and actually going back in and editing and re-writing to make things work better for me. For years now, my output has been very stream of consciousness and immediate. That style served its purpose but it is time to move on.
So here is what I am thinking. I will work on a substantial post every day for around an hour or so every morning while I suck down my coffee. If there happens to be a current affairs topic that day that I feel is worthy of a short tirade, I will write something and post it up. Otherwise, I will hammer on my new format article during the obligatory 1-hour writing period and post when I am happy with the piece.
A side benefit/problem of this potential new way to write is that I will hopefully force myself to use a non-google word processor for my writing. A while ago I started using google docs because it made the posting into Dreamwidth’s posting system easier. I am fairly certain that I just have to figure out how to use LibreOffice as an editor for formatting my stuff.
