Art Nouveau / Richard Gerstl/ Railway to the Kahlenberg
Well, as part and parcel of my upcoming retirement, I am trying to learn new things to while away the hours that will become open when I stop going into the workplace to do other’s bidding.
I have been working on the processes for beer and cider for years now and I have a pretty nice low-tech, small footprint process going. I can easily make beer/cider for a 22 oz bottle every other day. Can’t really see needing more than that. I can prepare the equivalent of around 200 ml of whiskey every two weeks. Again, the footprint is small and the production limited to a level appropriate to personal consumption.
I sometimes consider growing my own weed, but truthfully, I can’t really figure out how to do that in a manner that fits a rational lifestyle. Best I can figure, a single plant can yield up to 500 grams. Figuring I can get half of that, that is still around a half pound of bud a year. I just can’t see myself smoking/using more than 2 ounces a year (I am not that big a stoner), so I figure that I will just buy over the counter and make my gummy bears that way.
Now I am trying to master the tech around growing my own boomers. So far, my efforts have failed. Not a huge problem, I have time to figure it out. But all of the information online shows a near commercial grade production system. Good lord, why the hell (other than for commercial purposes) do folks feel the need to grow pounds of boomers?
So I am figuring out the systems that are being described and aggressively downsizing them. I am thinking that the entire system needs to be contained in a small pressure cooker, a couple of glass pint wide-mouth jars with lids, a rubbermaid tub, and a couple of ancillary consumables (e.g. Permatex RTF and either polyester pillow stuffing or the little bandaids you used to use on zits).
Now, looking at some folk’s take on the issue:
The highest dose tested was 30 mg of psilocybin per 70 kg participant weight (mg per kg is a typical clinical measure of dose for drugs of all kinds). This is roughly equivalent to a 155 lb individual taking slightly less than 5 g of dried psilocybe cubensis, a typical psychedelic mushroom—quite a strong dose. Four out of five volunteers receiving this dose reported the experience was one of the top five most spiritually significant events of their lives, but a third of participants also reported a significant psychological struggle. At this higher dose, experiencing fear, anxiety, and stress was more likely.
So, since I am a big ol’ hoss (ex-D1 offensive linemen aren’t known for being dainty) I am figuring around six(6) grams for an enjoyable day every week. I am figuring a 60-day cycle from inoculation to harvest, so sizing the lots to around 50 grams finish will require a 500 gram wet weight harvest. So I am thinking that I want to start out with a 1000 gram spawn.
oh, let's trade
