Otafuku Throwing Black Beans to Chase Away the Demons on New Year's Eve
Working on the concept of cheap food that you can eat day to day, long-term. Let’s face it folks, unlike here in privileged woke-ster land, poor people in the world eat rice and beans. A lot of them.
So I keep rice and beans in quantity about. 15lbs of rice and 30 pounds of beans can take a body a long way. I am seriously considering upping my base store to 50 of rice and 100 of beans. That would probably get me past most (>95%) of the problems that might get thrown at me.
Since I have other things around, I did a recipe today that tried for serious substance and a try at making something that would be good long term candidate for a “looking forward to dinner” kind of meal.
2 cups black beans
1 tbls stock concentrate
2 tsp five spice
1tsp sumac
1 tsp dried mint
2 tsp salt
⅓ cup dried onion
1 tsp dried garlic
5 cups of water
Put everything in a crock pot and turn on high. Let cook for 6hours
At six hours add
3/4 cup quinoa
¾ cup yeast flakes
One chicken breast.
Cook for another two hours
Tasty and filling. Might even be good for you
why should the apocalypse be flavorless?
