time to shuffle

I’m liking the fact that when I went through the news this morning there was nothing there that really alarmed me. Granted, there were the usual dire warnings from the usual suspects, but the folks out there in clickbait land are losing their edge.
I suppose that it took a lot out of folks to turn the sorta pathetic antics of the last while into world-changing crises, after all extended moral outrage is probably exhausting. I figure that the time right now is dedicated to resting and celebrating after the big game. I am certain they will find something to be aghast over in the non-too-distant future.
I find the social/political milieu to be particularly interesting right now. Not in the terms of excitement, but in terms of seeing what pieces are being moved into what places for the next street fight. Economics is particularly interesting. All of the problems that we created are going to have to be addressed soon, and no amount of governmental data manipulation is going to disguise the fact that things are looking decidedly rocky.
I am figuring that the doomers are going to be coming out to dance soon. Right now the media and the powers that be have things pretty tamped down in terms of putting out best case data and suppressing the fuck out of those that disagree with them, but that really can’t last and I don’t think that we have the legs to do enough of a a turnaround for the entire population. I think that the work being done right now is the decisions required to add another 5-7% of the population into the realm of “those people”.
Right now, I am guesstimating that “those people” constitute around 45% of the population. What is happening now is figuring out who will be getting the means to remain among the anointed. But the folks in charge, with the addition of the next bolus of congregants to the “those people” slots, might well just push the “losers” into the majority.
And that folks, is when things may well get interesting.
