I had the somewhat forgettable experience of growing up in those mean American towns that pop up like a boil on the ass of every military installation here in the land of the free.  Fistfighting and rumbles were probably a daily affair somewhere in my high school and fights in the parking lot post football games were a cherished tradition.

The one thing that's certain is that only losers talked about who threw the first punch.  

Ten days from now (yes, that is ten days) fuckwad the second will take the helm of a sinking ship.  Fuckwad the first will be somewhere else and then we can continue the long decline without the tasteless farrago that we have had to deal with for the last four years.  

I am strongly recommending both Edward Luttwaks Coup d'État: A Practical Handbook as essential reading along with Machiavelli’s Il Principe and Saul Alinsky’s Rules for Radicals.  These books should be the bibliography for any course in realpolitik

What I find to be curiouser and curiouser is how this is getting played out.  I am amused as hell by the “coup” attempt that folks are clutching their pearls over.  If that was a takeover of the government it was the most astonishingly inept attempted takeover in history.  It looked more like a gang of rubes sneaking into Disneyland.

I am waiting to see if fuckwad the second can make the slope of the decline more shallow.  I do think that someone on his staff read Luttwak’s book, because one of the things that Luttwak insisted was necessary for a coup’s success was taking over control of the media.

Meanwhile, fuckwad the first will be shining up his “Crown of Goldstein” while watchers all around make certain that he can’t do anything too stupid.  Somebody has to put a leash on Pompeo though.
