Qing Dynasty (1644–1912) / Qi Baishi/ Whisk rice and grasshoppers

Since I am still pondering the twenty-five suggestions, and I just uploaded Saturday’s post discussing the same, Sunday’s post (the one you are just starting to read) will probably be a housekeeping kind of post.

Today I am thinking about the artwork that I put up everyday courtesy of the fine folks over at WikiArt.  Now, I like artwork of many different flavors.  I am especially drawn to oriental art prior to 1912 and the impressionists, but mostly my art appreciation is along the lines of “I like that” with almost no effort put into the analysis of why I like it.  I feel that “I like it” when it comes to art is kinda a standalone, self-supporting statement with no supporting argument needed or wanted.

For some reason I seem to have drawn myself into the “landscape” orientation of art just because of a habit that spring from the stupid reason that it seems to fit better when viewed online.

Today’s piece “Whisk Rice and Grasshoppers” is what I am talking about.  When I preview, it just doesn’t fit right on the page.  Sigh.  But when I look at what I write below the purty pixture is maybe not all that important and the picture may well be the better part of what I post that day.

So, I am going to try to post up the picture that I like the best on the front page of WikiArt.  If it is landscape and fits into my ideal layout, then no difference.  If it is portrait orientation, then I will shrink it up a little and then make sure that the link directly to WikiArt is there.

I am not certain about putting the link into the caption.  I did it today.
