Sloth and lethargy…..Just sayin’.

Let's talk about writing for a bit.  I like doing it, but changing the way that I write is appearing to be a lot more difficult than what I thought that it would be.  I was thinking that going to a single longer piece would actually free up my time by allowing me the time to deal with more complex subjects.  True and false.

The trouble with complex subjects is that they are in fact, complex.  Last week I was going to write an article on a buried subplot of the ‘Rona.  But in the process of doing so I started realizing just how complex shit can get.  This presented my spectrum-ey self to get lost in the weeds and flail around for a full week on something that had so many internal contradictions that I had to just say “fuck it” and throw the whole mess away and start again from scratch.

So I am just going to figure out how to change my writing schedule before I go a hunting for big game.  This blog is pretty much a diary for me that is left out on the table for anyone to read that passes through.  It allows me a way to begin firing up my brain while I drink my coffee and prepare for work.  I think that this kind of piece serves nicely for that purpose.  So I will probably try for two writing periods every day.  The morning one (such as this) where I have a couple mugs of java, cast the I Ching, and write of not-tremendously-consequential things and the afternoons session where I will sweat my brain a little and try to wring out something with a little more substance.
