I am trying to figure out just what the gnote program can do for me.  

Mostly I am working out just how to survive without the benefices of Google should such a thing start developing issues that but it aesthetically and morally beyond the pale.  I really do like the simplicity and the flexibility of using the offerings from Google.  But by them kinda being the internet in many ways, I am leery about being beholden to them.

I am buying a Chromebook for day to day use.  Really, it is fine, super simple and super compact.  I don't really do anything particularly seditious so them snooping is not so much an imposition on my privacy as it is a waste of their time trying to get me to spend money that I don't have.

But, I am keeping an old beater Thinkpad with linux loaded and ready in case that Google finds something to do that creeps me out enough to pull the google plag and render the shiny laptop useless.

I an kinda thinking that the world is a-changin' best have a couple of alternatives available
