Impressionism / Emile Claus/ The Beet Harvest [1]

Gonna head upriver today to hang out with the boyo’s grandma on her 85th.  The whole distaff family will be in attendance so I will be on my best behavior.  Doesn’t hurt me, probably does me some good.

Place is cooling down nicely from the heatstorm that was the past couple of days.  I suppose that it made for good headlines, but truthfully is was a hit-and-run of hot that didn’t make any significant dent in my day to day.  Had to ride the bus because the Max was down, but that was the extent of my inconvenience.  I guess that the worst part was that I slept without and covers for three nights.  I also took quite a few cold showers.

Today is back to normal, right now the temp is at seventy with blue skies.  Gonna enjoy it.

[1]  I had never seen this painting before.  Actually brought a smile.  Back when they began to put me to work as a farmhand on the family farm in my callow youth, harvesting beets was the only task that I actually enjoyed.  Only got to do it two years before the farm got the “dwindles”.
