Angry and Now Apologetic White Guys
Staying at home today, Trying to get used to my new assigned role as a Solarian, Jesus...I am bored. Since the powers that be seem to insist that healthcare can be accomplished by telecommuting, I am trying to work out just how such a thing can be done considering my role. It is not as easy as it seems, but one must plan for contingencies that one has no say in.
As an aside. I am taking the liberty of publishing a texting conversation between Mike and myself as proof of out mental decrepitude and moral failings. I am proud. Almost peed myself laughing.
Screed:
So: Since I am sitting at home today rather than sitting at work, I got to spend time catching up with the day's reading. I didn't need to take much time. Things are short and sweet. The deal has gone down. Now we have to ride it until we come out of the other side.
I found many enlightening things. But truthfully, I think that anyone with a brain knew all the things being said a while ago. What was missing was the trigger event that kick the whole thing apart. I think that it is appropriate that the two segments of America that have contributed most to the downfall are in charge of the denouement.
Thank You financial industry and medicine. You got us here, you get us out. Too bad that never quite works out.

[John] back of the envelope calculation
[John] 9955000 new first time unemployment claims during the past two weeks
[John] 238820 confirmed Covid Cases
[John] I see that as 42 job losses for every Covid case
[John] 5850 deaths
[John] 1700 lost jobs per death
No need to make things seem worse than they are. [Mike]
Effectively 1699 since the dead person no longer needs a job. [Mike]
No need to make things seem worse than they are. [Mike]

Another interesting news story from yesterday
(Anonymous) 2020-04-04 02:18 am (UTC)(link)A train engineer working at the Port of Los Angeles has been charged with stealing a locomotive and intentionally derailing it in an attempt to hit the USNS Mercy.
The Mercy arrived in Los Angeles last week to provide an additional 1,000 hospital beds to address the COVID-19 pandemic. Eduardo Moreno, an engineer at the port, told authorities he found the boat "suspicious" and drove a train toward the ship because "people don't know what's going on here," the Los Angeles Times reports.
To sum up:
1) Mr. Moreno was correct - people did not know what was going on - with regard to him and the locomotive, but not with regard to the ship. Nearly everyone has seen the ship on the news.
2) Mr. Moreno was correct about everything going on in the world yesterday, except the ship.
