Wild Cards

Ahh, Sunday Morning.  Laundry and writing and cleaning.

Yesterday was a pleasant write off.  Work was casual.  The Benjamin earned won't hurt my feelings and no one was around to annoy me.  Then watched football.  Two damn fine games.  The Niner's look damned impressive, the Queens pulled off their habitual choke.

Saint Lamar and the Ravens showed what cockiness gets you.  I like the way that the Titans are playing.  During the drinking on Wednesday, I tried to get Paul to give me odds on a Titans/Vikings Superbowl.  He was a wuss and didn't feel the need to even respond.  I now feel half validated.

So, having laid down my extremely minimal bona fides here, I will go onto the next phase of clairvoyance.  I am rooting for the Chickens.  Russell played at Wisconsin, so he knows the cold.  The issue here is how does he win against the Niner's once he beats the Packers.  I am thinking that Russell is getting sick of not-quite winning like he did against the Patties and a couple weeks ago at the Niners.  I think that him and the Beast might just pull an upset here.

I think that the Titans are peaking.  They will probably beat the Chiefs, so a wild card superbowl might well be in the offing.

Screed

In the election, it is looking more and more likely that the race will be between old white men.  Shit.  Not that the last non-cracker oreo did anything useful, but it was at least a start.  We gotta stop electing boomers.  We blew it, it is time to go to pasture.

But we are not done yet

America is ready for a president who made 1,989 verifiably false claims in public statements during the first year in office (5+ per day), because he was able to improve to 15 lies per day in 2018.

The explanation seems to be that American is largely entertained by the lies. The lies fit with the faith of America - the story told by the lie is bound to happen eventually, even if not now.

The lies are calculated, and the goal is political - to get people fighting - the patriots versus the snowflakes. True, politicians have always lied, but never with such disregard for verifiability - with such an entertaining flair.

The flair is entertaining because the fabrications tell the story America wants to hear - there is no problem with doubling the use of fossil fuels, immigrants and minorities are takers, rich people probably are smarter and probably deserve to be rich, and god loves America best - which proves the existence of such a god. This last one involves a form of logic that might be called entertaining logic, or profitable logic.

In fact, what there seems to be, is no evidence that America is any wiser than this here.

America is not ready for a young gay mayor, regardless - of anything.

Neither is America ready for another well-spoken black, now that we have established it is too early in history for an uppity negro to be president - especially if he might not be a patriot or a Christian like the current president.

Once again, that old adage appears to be accurate: people get the government they deserve.

America certainly does not deserve the penalty that is bound to result from a president being gay; instead, America deserves the entertainment delivered by a president telling 15 lies, of the proper type, every day. America deserves to be entertained.

We blew it, but we are not done yet. America is still a country of MEN; men who know how to make fun of Greta whatshername and call it news to be trusted.
