OK: Gotta get back to the prep for the big retirement. I am setting up for the basics and a simplified life from where I am now.
Lets talk about food. Best I can figure, I have a basal metabolic rate of around 3000 calories. Now, a cup of dried beans gives you around 650 calories. A cup of raw white rice gives you 720. A large egg gives you 72. 8 ounces of pork gives you around 500. An onion is around 60. A couple of cloves of garlic are 10.
Lots of food come your way with the 2000 or so calories that the list above provides. I figure that a big bowl of oatmeal in the morning (call it 500 calories) will get me to a weight loss when coupled with the above. Lots of room to play around with calories and still be under the metabolic rate.
Screed:
You know, us boomers have kinda become our parents. You know, everything that we sort of rebelled against. The party affiliations have changed, but it boils down to the same thing. Bitch about "These Damn Kids", live in fear of Russia, ensconce yourself in suburbia or farther out and read only things that agree with you.
I thought about this when I read about Greta Thunberg and her antics. You know, the kid is probably right about what she is saying. Granted, being an entitled fifteen year old prima donna does make her irritating to folks of my generation, but it most certainly doesn't make her wrong. As a matter of fact, I would posit that most of her predictions are pretty well true.
Lately she pissed off the upper crust and the boomers that are sucking the gravy out of the current status quo that there are still torches and pitchforks out there ready to be used. She was even ballsy enough to remind folks that there are walld out there for blindfolded people to stand against. Well buckaroos, since farting and burping in polite company has long been a specialty of your humble correspondent, I approve of this kind of talk. Putting the fear of God into a senescent and guilty generation might be the way to get them off their ass and moving. Threaten away Greta, but go about it correctly.
Greta, your real problem is your handlers. Right now your life is a bit of a fairy tale, being whisked around the world as a trained seal, pleasant ocean voyages and train trips that probably put more carbon in the air than a commercial coach class seat. Speaking to a class of trained and smug kleptocrats and offering unwelcome truths.
Well right now you are getting away with it. In the middle ages, there was a position referred to as the court jester who assumed such a role and he had the same problems that you will be experiencing soon. You see, speaking truth to power is always a dangerous thing. You get kind of comfortable with the perks that come with being the court jester, good food, good clothes, nice travel, a certain notoriety.
But court jesters don't get to put people against walls, that is done by leaders of successful revolutions.
Time to choose.
